A project of the Economic Opportunity Institute
From 1999 to 2009, the percentage of people in Washington covered by private health insurance plans declined by 5%.
Over the same period, the percentage covered by government insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Basic Health Plan, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, rose to cover one third of all people in the state.
